"That's not good." Simon frowns before grabbing his back, switching the book he had with a spell book. "Soth? Tobias? We may have a problem." He says with a frown, wondering if there going to have to make a quick tag along with Erik in a few moments.

Erik ignored the statue, walking up to the house and popping one of the locks on a lower window. His patience was running thin, and so far the only thing that justified his distrust of this place was another demigod. Something about this house felt odd, something he attributed to the demigod which meant this was the house of Kincaid. He flipped his blade around, shifting into a reverse grip as he wandered into the house.

Soth walked over, looking toward the sky. "It's no problem, Simon." Tobias replied, sharpening his blade. "It's over the center of the town - I doubt Erik would allow himself to be seen easily, so he's more likely to be over in a less populated section of the town." Erik found himself in the main chamber, the Clan leader sitting on her throne as she drank from a goblet of mead. "I feel as though my husband has yet to actually come home with what I have sent him to retrieve. Ira." A woman dressed in violet robes walked over, whispering into the Clan leader's ear. "I see. Send for Robert, he will track down my husband for me." The robed woman nodded, heading off. The Clan leader never once noticed Erik, nor did anyone else who may have been in the room.

"There's only two people that I can believe that bad things won't happen, and that's Erik and Iris. But I'll give this one to you Tobias." Isaac nods, but still keeping ready just in case.

Erik shrugged, sliding his blade away before walking over to the woman. "I hear a lot of things, make a lot of connections. I assume you're the leader for this clan?" He asked, holding his arms wide with his palms towards her to show he was unarmed. "Would it be too much to assume you also go to great lengths to ensure the safety of those you care about? Or am I barking up the wrong tree here?" He chuckled to himself, his breathing and muscles relaxed despite his heartbeat growing faster. Getting the word of a clan leader that they'd come to no harm would do much to assuage his instincts, even if that word was given at knifepoint.

Soth looked off towards the East, staring at a city that was far from the camp site. "I would ask how in this realm you came to be in this house, but I feel as though the question would be avoided." The clan leader replied. "To answer your questions, yes I am the Kincaid Clan leader, and yes I would go to great lengths to ensure those I care about to safe and alive."

"Then we are on the same page. There is a group that I would go to great lengths in order to protect." Erik said, walking towards her but stopping several feet away before bowing. "Give me your word, by Sanguine himself, that the Kincaids will bring no harm unto them and I will swear not to knowingly bring danger unto your house."

"Something up Soth?" Simon asks, wondering why the man-giant is looking at the east.

"City. Up and Down." Soth replied, pointing towards the East. "Large Beast." "I swear by Sanguine that the Kincaids will not knowingly bring harm upon this group you speak of." The Clan leader replied, bowing back but keeping her head tilted so she could watch Erik.

"A large beast huh..." Simon thinks for a moment. "Can you give a description? I can tell you what type of monster it is if you need the help."

"And by Sanguine, I will not knowingly bring danger upon the Kincaids." Erik said, standing up. "I see you promised not to knowingly bring harm, that is good to protect yours from acts born of ignorance. I had hoped you were as smart as I assumed, and I am glad to see my hopes were not too high." Erik kneeled down, sitting on the floor. "We are travelers, passing through on our way East. I am simply more cautious than my bedfellows, and I am not above threats to guarantee their safety. But what good is a threat from an unknown party, that has broken into your home. Beyond the fact I can break in, at least. It verifies nothing of the validity of the threat, which you might be able to assuage with an increased number of guards." He reached into his bundle, pulling out a black metal dagger with a single red teardrop shaped ruby in the blade. "I doubt you understand the significance of the color of the stone, only the twelve of us that have these blades truly know. But if you hear rumors from the East, then you'll at least recognize it as the mark of a group responsible for the murder of nearly thirty barons and merchants. A group that technically does not exist, dismissed as myths among the lower class that they have someone willing to protect them from the abuses of a higher station. A myth that has significantly changed how things work in the east."

"Large, snake-like beast." Soth replied. "In our way to next city." "I sense that I may not live to see another blade such as that for the rest of my lifetime." The Clan leader said, staring toward it. "If you explain your intentions in my home, I shall not send for my guards. And do tell the truth, lying will do you no good now that you are within my spell circle." Then, as she snapped her fingers, four runes appeared on the four pillars near the two of them, one final rune, the largest, underneath the both of them. "As our patron Goddess is Nyx, my hand-maiden has learned the ways of debauchery." The robed woman returned. "M'lady, the runes are readied. Robert has yet to leave, though." "If you lie, the runes will change color and the guard alerted. Robert leads our guard, so he will be the first notified." Ira said, taking a sip from her goblet. "So, what is it you have come for?"

"If you were to ever see such a blade again, it would be the end of your life." Erik said, tucking it back into his bundle. "As for your spell, I doubt it would be able to tell the difference with me anyways. But I'll play along. As I said, we are passing through on our way east. Your town gave me a bad feeling in my gut, to which I began my own investigation as to why. Upon discovering the existence of another like me here, attributing much of my feeling towards that, I then turned to investigating the four clans that lead this place. Rather boring really, you're my third stop so far tonight and the other two were very boring in comparison. Back-room trade agreements, underhanded deals with pocketed gold, dark secrets that could destroy them. And very poorly trained guards, it's almost as if this place doesn't have any properly trained rogues." Erik sighed, standing up. "So...I was looking for blackmail I could use in case something were to happen to them, other than simply killing every single man, woman, and child in the town. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth for quite awhile, killing that many people."

Iris was still sitting, staring at the town far off from the group as is. Her robes were loose, not clinging to her body as many men wished for. "I see." The Clan leader said, leaning on her arm. "I would like you to know this - honesty is rewarded greatly in our home, especially from visitors. What is it you would like to see of our Clan?"

"I already have more than what I originally came to get, and I am not one to overreach what I already have." Erik said. "I will take the promise of safety and be on my way, I currently need nothing more from you, and anything extra likely comes at a debt I will not remain here to repay. So if our business is done, I will be on my way." Erik turned, taking a step before stopping. "As an initial payment on my part of the deal, you should have the weapons you recently purchased double checked for quality. Most steels are quite difficult to tell apart, but when stressed the cheaper ones quite often snap. And it wouldn't do if you weren't getting your money's worth. Now if you will have your men lower their weapons, I'll leave through the front door instead of a window."

"Much of what you will read here, son, you already know of. It is good you are retaining that knowledge." The book said, the words written in a manner that only Simon could understand. The clan leader nodded, the guards pulling their pikes back to themselves. She brought Ira to her, whispering into her ear, "Another Demi-God is here." "Yes, m'lady." Ira replied quickly, before going to find Robert before his departure.

Simon chuckled a little, reading it and smiling at hearing him called 'son'. "If only I knew my actual father." He thinks to himself. "But I can take a pretty good guess with how great my memory is and my knowledge seeking." He thinks to himself, looking up to the sky, hoping to see stars and see if he can name off constellations off the top of his head. (Sorry if I did a dumb here, but I thought Simon didn't know his father and only Tobias and Erik knew their parents)

"A word of warning though. If you break your word, you're going to wish Sanguine takes you before I do." Erik said. "Make sure to inform those you deem responsible enough with such information. It would hurt me to have to remove a player that knows what they're doing. There are so very few of you as it is, quite boring." He said, waving over his shoulder as he exited the building. He turned back to look, before walking into the shadows of a building and disappearing from sight. Once he was far enough away he lowered his scarf so it no longer covered his face. "That's well enough, I don't need to bother with the fourth." He sighed, heading back for the gate he had entered through. Once outside he let loose a shrill whistle, the sound echoing for a few seconds before his horse came trotting up to him. He hopped on, heading back towards the camp and the others.

The color of the sky remained dark, the clouds clashing with thunder. "Simon, look here." The book said, trying to grab his attention. "I want you to tell Erik these exact words, once and only once he returns to you: 'According to my Father, Thestral has completed the favor.' He shall know what that means."
Above watched few of the Gods, watching the group. "They show promise." "Yes, but they shall never make it to the Fountain! We must stop them." said the Messenger. "How about we consult the Lady of Time?" Asked the Sun Deity. "Or perhaps the Jester would like to give us his opinion?"

Erik arrived in the camp, tying his horse before taking off the saddle and brushing her. Once he was done with that, he walked over to Iris. "Safe passage for the group in the town, just don't swing first in any fights that happen. Also, if you hear anything that might sound bad for the Kincaid clan tell me." He said, dangling a bundle he had snagged while in the first clan house. "Painkillers, nothing too strong but it'll stop the ache from what I did to you and Tobias."
The Jester stared quietly, fiddling around with a necklace in his hands. "They are foolish, stubborn, half-informed, and dangerously skilled. A more dangerous combination I doubt exists, but they have a goal in mind." The Jester spoke, his voice quiet. "To that end, it doesn't matter what we throw at them. We could hurt them, break them, maybe even kill one. And the others would continue, with more hatred towards us weighing their hearts. Break the group up, make it so they cannot find each other, and maybe that will end this mission of theirs."

"Go, son, tell him now!" The book said to Simon, before the words reverted to their natural state. "Thank you, Erik." Iris said, taking her painkiller as Tobias walked over and took his. "So, who do you think will best support us in our journey?" "I still say that Beast master, but the Goliath dude seems pretty stable for us." Tobias said.
"Breaking them apart won't solve much." Said the Keeper of Knowledge. "It is your boy's prerogative to not lose his friends easily, Jester." "Yet your son will not help much with simply knowing the knowledge of the foreign country." said the God of Justice. "Shhh..." Tempra appeared, dressed in robes of black. "I see their journey's end. Only three survive the journey. One shall fall to the child of Nihil, whom guards the Fountain. This is something they must discover for themselves."

"Hey Erik." Simon says to Erik as he closed his book and walked over to the man. "And please pay attention since I can only say this once...for some reason. According to my Father, Thestral has completed the favor." Simon says to Erik clearly to the man. "I don't know from who, and I don't know why, but I was told to tell you that only once."

"Pick carefully Tobias. It is doubtful that whichever fighter you pick, their clan will simply allow them to leave with us. Nor will they simply choose to do so either, they are treated as champions among gladiators here. It will require good reasoning, or a carefully woven spell." Erik said.
The Jester was quiet, rubbing the necklace in his hand. "Find a way to drive them apart, break the group from the inside and make them think it is of their choice. Erik will not fight what his friends choose to do, even if it will cast him back into the darkness of loneliness. You cannot break him through any physical means, the ones that took him in made sure of that. He cannot be physically broken without killing him, but emotionally? Mentally? The others are his weakness. Use it if you choose to, I do not care either way if they fail or succeed. He hates me, but is apathetic to the rest of you. Just leave me out of it." "He hates me enough for what I allowed happen to his mother. I don't need to give him a reason to come hunting." He said, tears falling from his face as he disappeared in a flash of black lightning.

Erik turned to Simon, his eyes flashing quickly as a smile crept on his face. "Good. I hope it hurts him." Erik said, looking up as the sky thundered. "You can't stab a god with an iron knife and expect them to care. Blades that no armor can protect from, they stab deep into anyone that cares."

"Come on, guys. There's a cavern nearby that'll allow us shelter during the storm." Iris said, grabbing her things and mounting her horse. She saw Tobias, how his irises were pink before returning to their blue color. "Tobias, you are not going to fight them." "Understood, Iris." Tobias replied, mounting his horse as he followed his friend to the nearby cavern.

"Um...alright..." Simon says, not really sure why this is getting weird...but putting his stuff away and getting on a horse for the caravan. "Why....do I feel like we're pawns in something?" Simon thinks to himself, before following his friends on his horse. "Please just let this be scholars paranoia and not a real thing..."

Erik was quiet, following along on foot as his horse went ahead. His body was working on auto-pilot, his mind going back over every detail he had seen while he was in town. He filed things away in his mind, including the stances he had seen the Kincaid guards using. If she did not follow through on her word, the clanhouse was going to turn into a blood bath.
