"It is exactly that saying, the calm before the storm. When the seas are flat, the moment where most people would relax because they have a moment of peace, is generally the precursor of massive problems over the horizon." Erik said, walking up with Snowfall at his side. He was dressed in loose clothes, the shirt front hanging low enough to show a treated leather strap across his chest connecting something under his clothes. "Out here on the waters, a calm sea means a gathering storm. We had a saying when I was growing up "nothing happening only means you cannot see it."

"Out here on the waters, a calm sea means a gathering storm. We had a saying when I was growing up "nothing happening only means you cannot see it." Simon pulled out his spell book, knowing he's going to need it. "Something's going to appear, whether it be storm, fog, or something else." He says, knowing that the sea holds many monsters but thankfully never seeing one. "You feeling better Erik?" He asks his friend, hoping the guy was at least doing better then being held up by his beast.

One of the sailors, up at the crow's nest, grabbed a horn. He scanned the waters, checking to see where the storm could come from. "I don't think we'll be hitting a storm." Tobias said, looking into the water. "These be deep seas, and deep seas have large beasts. Simon, what do you know about this area? Any sort of large, dangerous monsters we should be worried about?"

"I mean besides a Leviathan, Kraken, and a few others." He frowns while looking through his bag and pulling out a book named 'Creatures of the Sea', and flipped around looking for what might be here. "But a Kraken would be in colder areas and a Leviathan has been generalized into any sea creature that's bigger then three ships combined..." He frowns, before closing it and giving it to the others, knowing they'll need to read it.

"Nothing we'll be able to sort out before it comes after us. And I am doing better Simon, far from fully recovered however." Erik said, lifting his hand off Snowfall's back. The area around them grew colder before Erik put his hand back on Snowfall. "Also, I don't want to be sailing on an iceberg because Snowfall doesn't want to go away yet."

"That would be a good thing." Simon nods a bit. "But it's good to see you feeling better, whether it be fully recovered or not." He says with a smile, glad to see his friend feeling better.

"Aye..." Tobias said, popping his neck. He walked towards the wheel of the ship, head craning over the rails. He spoke with the captain, who gave a hearty laugh at one moment. Iris peered into the water, trying to see what could be lurking around the ship. "Simon, what do you think could be there? We're getting close to the island, so there's not much that could attack us, right?"

Simon gave a hollow laugh. "If only that were true. No it's still a possibility, no matter how close to land you get. The likelihood of attack when we're close to the island is diminished yes but the sea is a harsh mistress that can throw anything at you at any moment." He says while gently pulling Iris away from the side of the boat.

"There's no point to overthinking such a thing, leave the boat's issues to the boat's crew." Erik said. "If they need our help, well...I'm sure they can afford to hire some good mercenaries."

"True." Simon says with a shrug. "Best to just look at what's hear and now rather than what's to come...most of the time." He says, knowing there are times where you should worry about what's next.

Iris nodded, sticking close to Erik and Simon. The waves smacked against the ship gently, the sea creatures gliding past the boat and one another.

"But Iris, is it okay if I ask you some questions?" Simon asks honestly. "And if you have any questions I can answer that would be fine as well."
