Harrington Court is said to be the most haunted building in the world. Originally built in 1643 by Lord Frances Harrington in the centre of the town of Greenford his family lived in the building for generations. The current building was finished in 1783 by Lord Benedict Harrington, however he and his family were the last Harringtons to live there. Legend says that Elizabeth Harrington, the youngest daughter of Benedict Harrington became possessed by a evil force. Very few documents exist from that time. It is said that several attempts to exorcise Elizabeth, each time reportedly failing. On October 20th 1785 Lord Harrington, his wife and his three children and all serving staff were last seen. The house appeared to have been abandoned. However over the next three years towns people and travellers had also vanished during the night, and many in the town believed that someone or something was taking them into the house, never to be seen again.
One night, on January 13th 1787 a group of towns people went to the house after a a young child disappeared. They broken in and found Elizabeth Harrington alive. They reported that she was pale like a corps. Thin from starvation and stained with blood. Elizabeth was shot three times and ran though with a sword. She was allegedly still alive when she was thrown out into the street and ripped apart by the towns people and her body thrown into the river. She was 10 at the time. In the basement of the house they found the remains of hundreds of people. All now buried in a mass grave in the local cemetery.
The house remained abandoned for 20 years until new occupants arrived. From then there were consent reports of hauntings and very few occupants remained for more then a few years. In 1887 the building became a hotel and remained open until 1914 when a brutal murder five took place in the basement. It was again closed until 1952 when it became a museum by supernatural enthusiast Jonathan Black.
You are a group of paranormal investigators and fans who have been granted special permission by the Harrington Court Trust to investigate the grounds. You will stay for five nights and will have full access to the building and it's grounds. You are currently preparing for a tour of the grounds.
Good luck.

There was the group of us, and then there was I. I was James, and there were my compatriots of this clueless search. The world seemed to be like a snow globe, now, whilst we remained on those grounds, anticipating every action.

"Are you having an inner monologue again?" A man says behind James. "Seriously, you have that 'look' again." The man, named Kyle, points out.

"Well, Kyle ol' boy, I'm allowed to have my monologues, aren't I?" I asked, grinning to my friend. I never thought he'd understand why I thought to myself, and he never did understand. I looked out to the grounds, to the manor. It looked lovely for how old it was.

"Your allowed to monologue but still." Kyle frowns. "Oioioi. It's one thing to have monologues in front of camera's but it's another to say them out loud sometimes for no reason." Kyle thinks to himself a little worriedly. "Place still looks brand new given how old it is." Kyle points out while looking around.

"That's why they're inner, Kyle! They're in me head is all." James called back, staring at the old manor. "You think anyone still lives there? Probably some old geezer hooked up to machines."

"I'm not gonna push that any further..." He mutters, leaving out 'you sometimes mutter your monologues out loud'. "But I highly doubt it. This place has been abandoned for way too long...but it's a tad weird it still looks new..." Kyle says, finding it a tad worrying.

"We can always inspect it." James said, grabbing onto the bars of the front gate.

"But wait," I said, staring off at the building. I wondered how old the building truly was... "We don't have the keys, my friend. Our employer has them, and 'e's yet to show up."

"This is why you always carry a lock picking set." Kyle says while pulling out a small box. "Just in case things pop up like this. But I'd rather save these puppies for when it's a tad more important."

I wondered why Kyle refused to use the picks now, when we needed them. I felt like asking, but I swore I heard the tires of a car coming up onto the drive way.

I smiled, gripping my walking stick as the two of us awaited our employer. I wondered how soon the rest of our friends would arrive. There was also Janice and Howard. Janice was a lovely woman, her curvaceous figure always displayed by her clothing of choice on any day. Howard was one of the smartest of us, if not the smartest. I had always wondered what drove the four of us to be this investigation group. That is I, Janice, Howard, and Kyle.

Right on time Janice and Howard came walking up, but Janice was wearing more decent clothing because she watched a bit too many horror movies and didn't want it to be like that. "Well I see someone got the memo that this shouldn't be a god damn horror movie cliche." Kyle laughs a little. "Yeah well it kind of is." Janice frowns. "We have a hot chick, the smart one, the slightly crippled, and a handy man." She points out, knowing how smart Howard is, thinking James was a little crippled do to the walking stick, and Kyle just looking like a handy man. "If horror movies have taught us anything, we don't follow the obvious crap." Kyle nods. (Okay yeah this is getting some serious 'horror movie' cliche here with the cast. But you get Howard and I get Janice alright?)

"Oh, Janice, you flatter me! I a cripple?" I joked with the girl, tapping her side with my long shillelagh. Thankfully, if need be with situations like this, I had my shillelagh as a beating stick as well. Howard fixed his jacket, putting up a small flask. And now, Howard says to use, "I'm not sure where our employer is, but they phoned in at our H.Q. to tell us they'd be late. Janice and I also brought the equipment." I saw, in Howard's greasy, well sized hands, were the keys to our transportation, my camper truck. I ask him, now, "How much of the technologies did you bring, Howard?" "Everything we'll need for this, James." He showed a slight disdained look. I think he was just tired, but he may have been annoyed with how many questions I would usually ask him.

"Whatever." Janice sighs out. "So, any plan we should go over or is it simply 'don't fuck up and get yourself killed'?" Kyle asks, just wanting to put that out there. "Cause I'd rather not die from an eleven year old spirit given the evidence from so long ago."

"I say we ought to not break anything too important." Howard said, eyeing me and my walking stick. He knew me, and how I took no care in breaking anything deemed unimportant. Truth was, that's why many of our employers found it difficult to trust me; however, I rarely cared, especially if we weren't paid good. "I promise not to break anything that'll get us fired." I say to my friends. "Janice, any plans on sleeping arrangements, since you seem so inclined to plan these sort of things out so systematically?" I liked this new outfit Janice wore, the colors were nice in their contrast. "I'll take the study, if there is one."

"Maybe this time he won't break half the shit in the house before the first day ends." Kyle mutters. "How about we look around the place first before we start deciding which place we're going to sleep in. Cause if the legends and many stories are true I'd rather not have everyone in separate rooms so we'll get killed quicker." She frowns. "Better to know the lay of the land then just jump right in?" Kyle asks. "Yep." Janice nods.

There was a gently cough from behind the gate. A old man stood their, resting on a cane. He had a short grey beard and wore a tweed jacket. 'The ghost investigators, I presume?' he said to the group.

He opened the gate and moved to shake everyone's hand. 'I am Jonathan Black, curator of the Harrington Court Museum and Hotel. It's a pleasure to meet you all.'

"Pleasure to meet you, sir." Howard told the man. "We understand that we'll be receiving a tour?" I shook the man's hand last, but did notice an odd scar on the man's neck.

"Yes we are ready for the grand tour." Kyle smiles. "So have you ever experienced any hauntings? Or anything out of the ordinary?" Janice asks honestly.

"Grand tour?" I gave a light chuckle, free of charge, to the curator. Howard and I followed behind Kyle and Janice; and I swear on my left hand, to this day I haven't the slightest idea of what made Janice look more lovely today, this summer day of nice sunshine and light breezes.

'What are the ordinary type of hauntings, Miss Janice?' Jonathan said as he led them into the grand hall. It was a large room with high walls, lined with paintings, animal heads, antique weapons and suites of armour. At the far end was a staircase that split at a T, leading to the upper floor, at the top a marble bust of Lord Frances Harrington sat gazing down on them all. Jonathan took a place on the first steep and addressed them all, 'People have seen shadows, items moving, even full apparitions. They have heard voices and some believe they were touched. Even a few have had their hair pulled or their skin scratched. Some guests report nightmares in their sleep, being attacked on their beds by something. People say at night a large dark hound haunts the ground. This house has everything, and it is its choice weather to show it to you.'

"Oh yeah this is a biggie." Janice nods. "Sounds interesting." Kyle points out. "But yeah this sounds not like an ordinary haunting. This sounds worse." Kyle says worriedly. "But thank you for explaining Jonathan. Better to hear what's going on first before actually experiencing it." Janice shrugs, having a point here.
