Okay now here's a weird thing I thought up for a dungeons and dragons 'Encounter'. This isn't supposed to bring about a fight but it's supposed to tell you 'oh hey this big fucker is about and will murder you if you get to him if your not prepared'. So what I thought up is with this voice line and music:
They will have to do maybe five rolls.
The first roll will be a listen check, just to make sure that people actually hear the voice, and if they fail they will hear some scary muttering behind the music.
The second roll will be a reflex save, so the party can dodge out of the way of an attack.
If they fail that then I'm either thinking of making another reflex save to see if they can block it with something or make the roll do half damage for full damage like a fireball.
The third(or fourth) roll with be a spot check, given that their is a fog around and the weapon they were going to get hit by was noticiable enough to not need a spot check for it.
And then the last one would be...I think a Will save to make sure they don't freeze at what they see. No it's not going to be some eldritch being but it's going to be something that they shouldn't see without either the proper item, feat, or skill to keep themselves from either going into a state of fear that they will die, go completely insane from seeing something like it, or something else. The voice line is going to revolve around what the boss monster will be(and it'll be a home brew God of Death yes I know there's a god in DnD like that)....but I don't know what do you all think. This is just a random idea that I just had in my head that I thought fellow players would either find interesting, stupid, or something.
