"Town." Soth said, walking up to the wall. "Town beyond wall. They're holding festival." "A festival?" Iris asked, before her attention was caught toward a woman, crucified and hung on the stone wall. "Oh lord, what happened to you?!" She asked, Tobias trying to figure out a way to get the woman down. "I failed... the festival, the tournament..." The woman said, blood dripping from her wrists. Tobias looked toward the wall, before seeing a large gate half way down to the eastern end. "Come on, we'll get to the bottom of this."

"Sh-shouldn't we help her first?" Simon asks worriedly, thinking of ways to get her down but the nails in her wrists makes him shudder.

"Is it worth digging into?" Erik asked, looking up at the woman. "There's no telling how the town will react to outsiders questioning anything, nor if we won't be assaulted on sight. Since the town isn't even on your map." He pointed out, leaning against the neck of his horse. "Especially considering the diversity of our traveling group, we've already had to deal with one mob wanting Soth. Who's to say they won't go after Iris or Simon next? Even with several well armed mercs at our backs."

"Head into town if you want to know..." The woman replied, staying in position. "The festival is open to all, but the four main families are the only ones who participate in the tournament." "What tournament?" Tobias asked, seeing if there was a way to get the woman down. The woman just sat there, head hung down as her skin was starting to become pale. "Diversity resides in the town. All are welcomed, but be careful..." The woman replied between coughs, panting for air. "Simon, see what can you do for the woman." Iris replied, using her magic to levitate the cross onto the ground. She turned to Erik, saying, "I"m sure someone would have spotted Soth peering over their walls and alerted anyone of a man-giant. We mustn't worry far too much. As well, we should see if there's anyone willing to aid us."

"Um..." Simon mutters, not really sure if he should given he's the weakest off his group even though he learned some self defense. "We should at least figure this out...let's just hope we're not dragged into whatever the hell causes this."

"Yes, and that is what worries me. Not even an alarm about an armed man-giant and a small group of mercenaries and mages." Erik said, climbing down from his horse. "It's up to you two, I'll follow along with your decisions. But if we get caught in a trap, I'm going to tell you 'I told you so' until we get back out of the town. And if we get killed, I'm going to haunt the fuck out of both of you. It doesn't matter that we'll all be dead."

Tobias moved to the gate, staying at it. "Iris, you and Erik come with me!" He called out, opening the gate and moving inside. Iris sighed, readying herself to save Tobias. "Simon, see what you can do to heal the girl or at least get her off of that cross. Let's hope Tobias doesn't, or hasn't already, get himself into trouble."

"I'll defer to your leadership skills, until the point we have to break in or out of somewhere." Erik said, pulling a black metal dagger from a hidden sheath. "However, I reserve the right to kill anyone that becomes too much of an issue." He stepped up to the gate, opening the door and glancing around.

Simon looked over the crucified woman, pulling off his bag and rummaging through it to find some medical equipment and a book just in case. "This might hurt a bit, just please bear with me here." Simon says while starting to help her by gently taking out the nails that kept her stuck to the wooden cross.

Iris followed Erik and Tobias, looking about the town. "Looks like everyone was excited about this festival, look at all those fliers." She pointed out, seeing the major poster of two stick figure like drawings fighting each other. The woman clenched her teeth, trying to bear through the pain of the nails being removed from her body.

Erik walked over, picking up one of the fliers. "I don't like how this feels. Any of this. I have a bad feeling I'm going to be stabbing someone important and making us run for our lives before long." He said, his grip tightening on his dagger. "Give me orders, something to do. This entire place feels wrong, I can ignore that if I'm doing something."

"Go to Soth and Simon and see if either of them need help. If not, go set up camp south of the town." Iris replied, placing a calming hand onto Erik's shoulder.

Erik dropped the flier, grabbing her hand and squeezing it. "Four hours. I'm giving you and Tobias four hours before I come find you, and woe to anyone that stands in my way. And may Ithac show mercy to any that have hurt either of you, because I will not." He let go of her hand to dig around in his shirt, pulling out a small bracelet with two mask charms hanging from it. "Tracking spells. If you pull off the frowning mask, it'll alert me that you need help. Keep the smiling one with you at all costs, so I can find you. Alright?"

"Understood." Iris replied, taking the charms into her palm. "We should be out in no less than an hour and a half."

"Alright." Simon nods while putting the last nail on the ground next to him. "I'm sorry, but this is going to hurt a lot. It's the only way you can live so please...bear with me." He says to the lady, putting his hands together and focusing, before separating his hands as a small ball of fire appeared. He took a deep breath and started to cauterize her wounds with the small ball of fire as gently as possible. "I'm sorry..."

"I hope so Iris." Erik said, walking back towards the gate. "For the sake of this town, and everyone in it." He slid his dagger back into it's sheath, heading back outside.

The woman, with her last breath, screeched in pain. Her body became stiff after a few minutes, and she was pale all over.

Simon stopped cauterizing the wounds and the small fire ball was extinguished and he checked the woman's pulse, trying to figure out if she still had a heart beat so he didn't just outright kill the poor woman by burning the wounds. "Please be alright. Soth! Is anyone coming this way?" Simon asks while trying to make sure the woman didn't die by treating her. "I hope I can figure out how to heal people without having to burn them." Simon thinks to himself bitterly, still hating to burn the injured when they were already in massive pain.

Soth looked around, checking on the town. "No, only Erik." He replied, coughing out embers. Being the son of the Sun deity, he knew how to breath out flames, however was cursed with having this side effect.

"Thanks." Simon nods while checking if she's still alive, either having a breath in her body or having a heart beat. "Please be alive lady." He mutters while putting an ear to her chest to hear either her heart beat or her breath. "I wonder why Erik is coming this way? Maybe something to do with the festival or something?" He thinks to himself, having an air of worry that something a bit more worse then just a crucified woman outside the town is happening.

The woman's heart held no beat. She had died from blood loss and starvation, having been up on that cross for a few days. Soth walked over, sitting down by Simon. He saw the woman, seeing how she had laid dead. "A funeral pyre... more suiting for death. Soth light?"

Simon took a moment and sighed out. "Yes...do you need me to get some wood Soth or no?" Simon asks, before putting away his things that he took out of his bag thinking it might help. "Too much blood loss and starvation...a terrible way to go." He sighs out while getting up and pulling out a book. "Need me to say her rights while the pyre is going?"

Soth shook his head, but pointed towards a large gathering of rocks. "Need fire pit. Gather rocks for Soth, and make circle."

"Alright." Simon nods before putting the book away and rushing to the rocks quickly, getting the rocks and starting to make a fire pit as best he could. After a bit of time and a small bit of thinking he put the last rock down for the fire bit.

"When you're done with her funeral, we're setting up camp just south of here." Erik said, grabbing the reins to the horses and walking over to the mercs. "Soth, if you see Iris or Tobias come and get me immediately. And...if they're acting odd, don't hesitate to knock them out. This town has a bad feeling around it, one I don't like in the least."

Soth nodded, before breathing his Heated Breath onto the corpse, burning it quickly. "Soth meet you two later. Watch for Tobias and Iris." He replied, looking over the wall. "No see. Soth go with you two." He offered his hands to carry the both of them, looking toward the south to see a good place to set up the camp.

"If they crucified that poor woman and left her to die then there's plenty to worry about." Simon sighs out. "She died of blood loss and starvation as you probably could tell...something's not right." Simon sighs out. "And thank you Soth..." Simon nods while getting on Soth's hand, thinking for a moment to actually read a book to calm himself down but deciding against it. "But in your opinion Erik...how bad is it? Cause hearing you say something's bad is by definition something to have a lot to worry about."

Erik jumped up onto his horse, tying the other reins to his saddle. "Iris has a way to contact me if something happens to them, but...that town feels off. I can't describe how, my gut is telling me to either run or kill everyone inside the walls. So until they come back, or their time limit is up, we get to sit here." "As for how bad that is, Simon..." He turned to look at the scholar. "If she sets off that spell, I'm going to go in there and only three beings will walk back out. Myself, Iris, and Tobias."

"Need a potion or two?" Simon asks. "You may have your poisons and your talent's but it could never hurt to have maybe a little something extra." Simon asks, knowing he has a few healing potions or other kinds of potions.

"Simon, a shadow has no need of a healing potion. And this time, I will be able to fight at my fullest capability because neither you nor Soth will be following me." Erik said. "I still don't get how you mixed up 'stay here and don't touch my stuff' with 'bring my useless bag to me in the middle of the enemy camp'." He said, snapping at Simon before he sighed. "Sorry, I know you just try to help. But I don't need it when I'm working on my own."
