DOMUM AUTEM DE MACHINA (HOUSE OF THE MACHINE)
HOUSE MOTTO:
AD VICTORIAM!
EX MACHINA!
QUIA MACHINA ATQUE EX MACHINA!
English version:
TO VICTORY!
OUT OF THE MACHINE!
FOR THE MACHINE AND MACHINE GOD!
VITAL INFORMATION:
The House of the Machine is an extremely powerful splinter faction of the inter-galactic Human Empire, one that wields a terrifyingly advanced armada of machine-men, mechas, battle suits and behemoth war machines. This mighty force is the ultimate splinter group, the only one capable of taking the main Human Empire in a fight and winning. In spite of what one would expect for a faction of its vastness and might, the House of the Machine's military doctrines focus on flanking tactics, bait-and-switches, encompassing the enemy, ambushes, and other tactics that are meant to destroy the enemy through wit. However, the House of the Machine is also capable of pulling off the sort of steamrolling tactics one would expect from such a fearsome force. Such things are usually meant for shock-and-awe, breaking the enemy's will by showing how foolish they would be in continuing their fight against the Machine Men. Cocky empires and species declare war, only to suffer the near-extermination of their entire species. Galaxies fall and kingdoms waver, for the House of the Machine is coming, and no collective, save the Human Empire, can stop them.
ORIGINS:
The origins of the feared House of the Machine lay in the not-too distant past, when a disagreement between the lead general of the Imperial Armed Forces and the Emperor led to a massive feud that has now erupted into war. The two were at odds over several controversial measures, particularly several weapons designs meant for the special forces super soldier units of the Empire and augmentations for said special forces that included a great deal of cybernetics and bionics. The Emperor feared the public backlash that these augmentations could bring, for the previous ones had already stirred major controversy and protests because they were seen as inhumane and cruel. These augmentations were always done with the consent of the soldier, but they were excruciatingly painful to undergo and there would always be shock after the procedures were complete. There were also cases of psychosis, dementia, and other severe mental disorders along with various physical conditions. However, those that were unaffected always succeeded in their missions and were nigh-unstoppable on the field.
So the Emperor approved the additional augmentations after a year of thought, and all was well for some time. However, a whistleblower released the truth to the public, and as expected, the public reaction was horrific. Many protests turned to riots, and some of the population of the countless residents of the Empire actually split off, making their own rebel factions and launching devastating raids on special forces camps. Some groups even resorted to terrorism, using fear to break citizens to their will. Enraged by these practices, the Emperor commanded that his general destroy these factions and teach them a lesson in brutality. The general agreed, and soon began a bloody, ruthless campaign of destruction, led by the general himself on an unfathomable amount of occasions. However, as results came pouring back, it was revealed that the once-merciful general had embraced a doctrine of 'no mercy for the damned,' always opting to kill every rebel in ways that were utterly barbaric: soldiers would rip arms out of sockets and shove them into chests, machines would melt people alive, and great fleets would use bio weapons to kill all life on rebel worlds. The Emperor demanded that this brutality halt, for he did not want the image of the Empire to become one of tyranny and horror. The general refused, caught in a fiery rage that stopped him from seeing mercy as a rational ideal. With few choices left, the Emperor declared his head general a rogue and ordered all units under his command to bring him back to Earth for judgement.
As it turned out, however, many galaxies and hundreds of worlds in the Empire sided with the general, and they rose against the Emperor to aid who they saw as their true leader. The general, shocked by the Emperor's declaration of him being a rogue agent, angrily turned against him and assumed command of all forces that would take his side. Almost 35% of the Empire's land units, 29% of its air units, 47% of its naval forces, and 85% of the Empire's special forces heard the general's call, and they either rose up or fled their now-hostile brethren, opting to aid the general in the destruction of the 'false Emperor.'
Over ten years later, though, the general has realized the error of his ways and has messaged the Emperor with a considerable request: The general and all members of the House of the Machine will rejoin the Empire, but only if the general is allowed to regain his command and once again lead the Empire's forces as one. Public reaction to this request has been mixed.
