You've awoken.
Where, you could not say. Miles of stone stretch on in all directions from where you have found yourself, marked intermittently by sconces of blue fire. A gust of wind blows past you, the flames flickering for a few seconds before returning to their gentle crackle.
You reach up to your throat, a line of knotted flesh marking a scar across it. A memory crosses your mind for a second, pain as something sharp drags itself across your throat. Your last view is a silvered blade, dripping with blood as you fall to the ground.
Something has given you a second chance. Choose carefully what to do with it.
You start alone. Explore your surroundings, maybe find a way out of where it is you are, find others and band together to get out. Maybe find out what happened to you, or why it is you are still alive. Pay close attention to every detail, as nothing is made or done without purpose.
Good Luck

"Ow..." The man thinks to himself, the painful memory not helping but he took a little breath before looking around wondering where he was. "A silvered blade, most likely covered in my blood if this scar is any indication..." He thinks to himself, hoping to find something.

A young man, no more than seventeen years of age, coughed out in pain. His golden eyes stared at the landscape around him, taking in all the details, what little there may have been. He rubbed his throat, and tried to find something of a village, perhaps. Nothing. His gray skin matched the gray stone landscape; his aqua hair was brighter in color than the sconces' flames. He looked toward what he thought was East and started walking, thinking - hoping - that someone would be nearby. He tried to remember who he was, and, more importantly, why someone would want him dead.

Nothing stretches on as far as the young man could see, the blue flames his only companion as he walked. A powerful gust of wind blew from his right, knocking him from his feet. He stopped rolling in time to notice a blur, far off ahead of him. It was the only difference in the sea of hard stone he found himself atop. Nothing but stone and sconces were in his sight, stretching onward as far as he could see. The sconces floated in the air every few yards, the only light. Looking up yielded nothing, only an inky blackness that grew ever darker and filled him with a feeling of fear as he stared at it.

The young man stared toward the blur, trying to piece together what it could be. What was that mysterious blur doing in this stone landscape, he thought. He got up onto his feet, brushing his legs off. He made no direct movement toward or away from the blur - in fact, he remained completely still the entire time, staring it down. He waved, his only form of communication, currently.

He thinks to himself before looking away from the fear inducing darkness and started to get up carefully, not knowing what might be in store for him in this strange place.

The blur slowly grew tall, the details still impossible to make out at this distance but it was quite obvious this was likely something like him. A cloud of dust blew up between them, as the blur dropped down to half its height. A gust of wind blew past the man, knocking him back down to his knees. Dust blew around him, obscuring his view. He felt a gentle hand stroke his face, a mirage of a woman forming in the dust before it blew away.

The young man covered his mouth and nose, so not to breath in the dust. He squinted, trying to shield his eyes, but still focused on the blurry - now even blurrier - figure. Was it a man, a woman, or was it even a large animal? Whatever it was, the young man was unsure of how to communicate with it.

"What in the world?" He thinks to himself, wondering what the hell the sudden touch and image of a woman appearing and disappearing out of the blue. The man checked his face where the 'woman' touched him while getting back to his feet, wincing a little at the forceful push to his knees and checked where the lights pointed to, hoping it just didn't lead to more darkness.

The figure climbed back to its height, the only disturbance in the repeating landscape of stone and sconces. It was standing still as he was, peering off in a direction he could not tell. There was nothing in his immediate sight, just the repetition of stone and light that surrounded him as far as he could see. Turning about, he noticed a blur far away standing as tall as he was. It was not moving, standing still just as he was.

The man raises an eyebrow, scratching his beard a little bit in wonder before starting to carefully walk towards the blur, having nothing to go on besides said blur. "Careful steps, no sudden actions given I might start something terrible." The early thirties man thinks to himself worriedly, continuing to walk over to the blur but making sure he didn't misstep.

The young man waved his arms, trying to get the figure's attention. He felt as though a lump was formed in his throat, he felt unable to talk to the figure. Maybe it was shock; maybe.

He noticed the blur moving, details slowly forming as it walked towards the man. It turned to be another man, like him, walking slowly and cautiously. His body language spoke volumes, how he seemed prepared to bolt away. As you approach the blur, details start forming. It is another man like you, standing with his hands above his head waving. A gust of wind rushes past you both, a giggle carrying quietly into your ears as the winds moved around and rushed off again. One of the sconces nearby flickered, the flames going out for a second. Everything seemed to freeze, even the dust in the air, before the sconce re-lit itself and everything continued.

"What the hell?" He thinks to himself, a mixture of the wing blowing, the giggle and things freezing up just because the light relight itself. "Hello?" He says to the other man, hoping it's not another mirage like that lady.

The young man stopped waving, not wanting to scare off the already seemingly paranoid other. He tried to keep his hands out in front of him, showing he didn't want to scare the man or fight him.

The wind whispered back to him, repeating his message of 'hello' dozens of times over. A feminine giggle echoed to him, before a single voice whispered ' follow'. The man opposite him stopped waving, holding his hands out in a gesture of peace showing he had no weapons. The man looked scared, being close enough that you could tell his mouth opened but you heard nothing if he spoke.

"Well apparently this lady doesn't want this to be simple." He thinks to himself before holding his hands out in a sign of peace, giving a less paranoid look and giving a gentler one so the poor guy wouldn't think he'd suddenly bolt.

The young man tried to speak, but words could not form. He coughed, and coughed, trying to get whatever lump was in his throat out. When he felt fine, fine enough to get at least a word out, he simply said, "Hello..." He lowered his hands, and made a few steps toward the other man.

The wind echoed back to the man 'hello', a dozen times over gently whispered into his ear. The other man returned his gesture of peace, showing neither of them had anything. They stood now, only separated by a few dozen yards that sound seemed unable to cross. The other man walked towards him, his mouth opening although no sound coming from it the man could hear. They stood separated by a few dozen yards, the only thing between them was the empty stone and a few sconces.

"Well at least he's trying to talk. Let's try to get closer." He thinks to himself while starting to walk towards the man, taking careful steps in this unknown place towards the man that he hopefully will find as a companion to figure out what's going on.

The young man walked closer, his hands at his side now. He breathed in, and out, trying to remain calm. The world felt alien to him, and he needed to learn how to adjust to it - being calm was his first instinct.

The two men were bowled over by a strong gust of wind, grabbing at them and dragging them several hundred feet head over feet. The wind let up after awhile, having taken the two quite a distance from where they had been. The terrain around them appeared no different however, the same repetition of stone and blue fire sconces since they had woken up.

THe young man remained where he was, observing his surrounding area. He sighed, hoping for something new. He felt a pain in his head, as if his mind was forcefully trying to remember something - anything - about his past. He couldn't think of anything.

"Ow." He grumbles, starting to get up and looking down, putting down a hand to help the young man, but looking worried about why the man looks like he's in pain.

The young man listened, though he moved with hesitation. Where to, and for what reason, was he to follow the directions of the wind and a disembodied voice?

The two traveled for what seemed to be hours, maybe days before they noticed the first changes in the world since they had arrived. A single white rose, growing from the stone. It seemingly beckoned to them, to draw close and pluck it. Farther on past the rose, the two noticed the grey of the stone slowly turning green at the horizon. Continue on. Your answers lie at the heart of The Barren.

He frowned, seeing the rose and feeling like he should pluck the rose, but it seemed to tempting and in such a strange place it seemed weird. "What the hell is 'The Barren'? And what's with the rose?" He thinks to himself, wondering why that's there and wanting to move past the rose if able.

"The..." The young man tried to speak out the rest of his words, but could barely talk. Aside from the scar on his throat, the inside of it felt scratched every time he tried to speak.
